Hoi An to Phong Nha | 550 km in 3 Days | Asia Vlog 10

One and half years later Asia Vlog 10 is here and third vlog of the Vietnam Bike Trip! In this vlog we are journeying from Hoi An to Hue to Khe Sahn to Phong Nha. It was a lot of driving to say the least but was all worth it and was probably the second best stretch of driving we did this whole trip. The twists and turns in the road made it so exciting, coupled with some of the most beautiful landscapes I’ve ever seen in my life.

The drive from Hoi An to Hue kicked things off driving through the Hai Van Pass, which is an amazing stretch of road that goes up one side of a mountain and goes back down the other side. We got caught up in taking photos and enjoying the view so we ended driving at night on what seemed like a highway…it was too dark to tell.

The next day we had a slight change of plans to take the scenic route from Hue to Phong Nha, which required an overnight stay in the town of Khe San. This follow the Ho Chi Min Road…I think and was another beautiful although exhausting ride.

After a night in Khe San we headed out for Phong Nha, on a great day ready for the mountainous landscapes. Unfortunately Zach had a little spill and cut his knee open pretty good. We locked his bike to the guardrail on the side of the road, got Zach on the back of my bike and his backpack on Dan’s and drove back to Khe San where luckily there was a hospital. Quickest and cheapest hospital visit ever and Zach was all stitched up. We decided to just chill for the rest of the day and take another crack at the ride tomorrow.

About half an hour in we realized Zach wouldn’t be able to make the 6 hour long drive with a stitched up knee so we found a bus for him to take to Phong Nha and he had his own little bus adventure, bringing his motorcycle onto a city bus LOL. Dan and I enjoyed the incredible drive and were in awe of the mountains that just seemingly popped up out of nowhere. During our break for lunch we met this older German guy who said he had been on the road traveling on his bike for 4 years…4 years!!! That’s just insane to think about…I wonder if he still is biking around.

We enjoyed the next day in Phong Nha with a cave tour, duck stop and a visit to a chicken farm where we ate some of the freshest chicken in our lives! Anyways that’s it for this vlog…next stop, Ninh Binh!

Thanks for watching!
